More than a decade after its 2014 Manila run, CHICAGO returns to the theatre where it first opened in the Philippines. The musical is now celebrating 30 years on Broadway and is back as part of its 30th Anniversary global tour. It has played more than 11,700 performances, been seen by over 35 million people worldwide, and reached 38 countries and more than 525 cities.

Carlos Candal, CEO of GMG Productions, said: “There’s something especially meaningful about bringing CHICAGO back to The Theatre at Solaire, where it inaugurated the venue in 2014. More than twelve years later, returning to the same stage feels like a real homecoming.”

Set in 1920s Chicago, the show follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who finds herself on trial for murder. With the help of slick lawyer Billy Flynn, she tries to turn her crime into a media spectacle, only to end up competing for the spotlight with fellow inmate and nightclub star Velma Kelly. With a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb, the musical features iconic numbers including “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” “Razzle Dazzle,” and “Nowadays.” A six-time Tony Award® winner, including Best Musical Revival, it continues to captivate audiences more than three decades after its Broadway revival.

Barry Weissler, producer of CHICAGO The Musical, said the show “is as hot as ever!” David Ian, Co-Producer at Crossroads Live, added: “Our incredible company can’t wait to perform CHICAGO in Manila, home of such an enthusiastic musical theatre audience. Get ready to paint the town!”

Whether you saw it in 2014 or are discovering it for the first time, now is the time to put on your best face and get ready for plenty of all that jazz.
